THE CORPGRA!!Ol'i OF TBE TOWN OF AURORA
BY-LAW NO. 1956-72
Being a By-Law to adopt the estimates of
all sums required during the year for
general purpeses, net regional levy and
education requirements; and to strike the
rates of taxation for the year 1972.
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Au~ora has in
accordance with the Municipal Act, considered the estimates of the Municipality
and its local boards for general purposes;
AND WHEREAS the net Region of York levy deemed warranted to be raised
by the Town of Aurora has been received;
AND WHEREAS the assessment roll as returned is deemed to be the last
revised assessment roll for 1972 taxation purposes as detailed on Schedule
"A" attached hereto and forming part of this By-Law;
AND WHEREAS there is required to be raised for special purposes the
sum of $6,581.00 for sewerage and other debentures under the Local
Improvement Act;
AND WHEREAS the 1972 rates of taxation have been struck in accordance
with the stipulated provisions of the appropriate statute.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Aurora
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the 1972 estimate for general purposes, regional purposes
and educational purposes in a total taxatien amount of 12,349,431.00
be and the same hereb,y adopted.
2. THAT the following amounts and rates; more specifi~all.;r._detailed

shall be levied in "l;he manner as set out hereinafter:

3· T.BERI shall be stru.ck, rated, levied and collected a further
special rate per foot frontage to raise the sum of 16,581.00 to cover
the ratepayers• share of the cost of looal. :l.mprovemeats, such rate
to be in accordance with the rates and against the properties decided
.by the Court of Revision, held for such purpose and the collector's
roll shall provide accord:il'lg:q.
4. '!'HAT the said Public School Bates shall be stru.ck, rated, levied
aad collected upoa the lan4, buildings aad business assessment, assessed
in the IWIIe of those desipated ill the Collector's Roll as Public
School Supporters.
,5. '!'HAT the said Separate School Bates shall be stru.ck, rated, levied
aad collected upoa the land, buildiDgs aad business aseesement, aseessed
in the Daile of those designated ill the Collector's Roll as Separate
School Supporters.
6. '!'HAT the balaace of the said rates, due and levied, in the addition
to the provisions of the Interim Levy under By-law 1943-71 shall be
payable in three instalmaats due on the foll.owiD& dates; on or before
the 28th dq of Ju:q, the 29th ~ of September, and the 27th Day of
October 1972.
7. '1'HAf there be :l.mposed as a penalty, a percentage charse of one
percentum on non-pa:raent of 81J11 instalment of the taxes or 8JQ' portion
thereof on the first ~ ef default and on the first ~ of each
calendar month thereafter in which def&lll.t centinues, but not after
the 31st ~ of December 1972.
8. !BAT a percent;ase charge of one percatum of' the rates not paid
on the 31st ~ of' December, 1972 and such penslt7 and interest shall
be laded end collected by the collector of treasuer as if' the same
had been o~ imposed and fcmned part of' the said rate.
9· !BAT the Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to be
mailed the notices provided for by section .521 of the Jlunicipal Act
to the addresses of the residences or places of business of the persons
to whom such D.Otices are required to be given.
10. !Jll1' the Cellector shall, if allY iutalment of the taxes remain
unpaid for more than fourteen. da;rs from the date provided for J181111ent
thereof, forthWith proceed to eollect by distress or otherwise,
under the provisions of the statute in that behalf, all such taxes,
so in default, tosether with the percentase thereon imposed for a
default.
ll. !Ill!!! this BJ-law shall come into feree and effect upon the
date of the final reading thereof.
