BY-LAW NUMBER 1971-72
OF THE MUNICIPAL COBPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AmtORA.
A BY -LAW TO PROVIDE FOR A TAX CREDIT FOR CERI'AIN PERSONS.
WHEREAS the Town of Aurora Act, 1972 authorizes the Cbancil to pass a B.r-law
for the purposes hereinafter set forth1
THEREFORE THE COtJNCIL OF THE COBPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS1
l, The treasurer is authorizeli and directed to allow a credit equivalent to
that portion of the real property taxes levied by the Corporation for
school purposes on payment by any person of the remaining portion of the
taxes levied in respect of any residential real property owned and
occupied by such person, or owned by such person and occupied by his or
her spouse or by both, as his, her or their personal residence, where
such person, or the spouse of such person, or both, has attained the
age of seventy years and is receiving benefits under the Old Age Security
Act (Canada) provided however, that no such credit,
(a) shall exceed the sum of $100 in any year;
(b) shall be allowed to any person or to the spouse of such person
in respect of more residential real property than one single
family dwelling unit in any year;
(c) shall be allowed to any person who has not made application
therefor on or before the last day of February, in the year in
whicb the taxes in respect of whicb such application is made
become due and payable 1
{d) shall be allowed to any person unless such person, or the spouse
of such person, or both, has been continuously assessed as the
owner and occupant of residential real property in the Town of Aurora
for at least ten years immediately preceding the date of the application;
(e) shall be allowed to any applicant who if a bachelor, spinster, widower,
widow or divorced person or a person living apart from his or her spouse
had an income from all sources in the calendar year immediately preceding
the year in which the application is made of more than $3,400,00 or being
a married person living with his or her spouse had an income fi'om all
sources in such calendar year which when added to the income of the
spouse from all sources in that year of more than $4,500,00; or
(f) shall be allowed to any person O'r the spouse of such person who has not
attained the age of seventy years on or before the last day of February
in. the year in which the application is made,
2, The applicant shall execute and verify by statutory lieclaration the form
provided by the Clerk-Aiiministrator which shall contain such provisions
as may be necesSary to give effect to this B,y-law provided, however, the
e of any income shall not be required to be disclosed,
