OF THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURIDRA
A BY-LAW TO AMEND BY-LAWf NOMBERS 1496 AND 1616 BEIOO BY:LAWS FIX THE DATES
OF NOMINATION AND ELECTION IN THE TOWN OF AURORA.
WHEREAS SECTIONS 43 and 44 of The Municipal Act, R.s.o. 1960 provide that the
Municipal Council may fix the place and time for the nomination meeting for the
purpose of nominating candidates for Council and any local board or commission
and the day for polling.
AND WHEREAS, SECTIONS 92(18) AND 92 (25) of the Secondary Schools and Boards of
Education Amendment Act, 1968 fix the times for the nominations and election of
eligible candidates from the Town of Aurora to the York County Board of Education,
AND WHEREAS, SECTION 84 (20) fixes the times for the momination and election of
eligible candidates from the Town of Aurora to the York County Roman Catholic
Separate School Board,
NOW THEREFORE THE MUNICIPAL CQUNGIL OF THE TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT, the meeting of electors for the nomination of candidates for the Municipal
Council, and the Hydro-Electric Commission of the Town of Aurora and for the candidates
eligible to be nominated for the York County Board of Education and the York
County Roman Catholic Separate School Board, shall be held on the second Monday
preceeding the first Monday in December,, at 7.30 o!clock,in the afternoon and at
such place as shall be designated by Council resolution,
rl' 2. THAT if more candidates are nominated for an office than are to be elected, the
day for Polling shall be the first Monday in December and the Polls shall be open
between the hours 10.00 o'clock in the morning and 8.00 o'clock in the evening,
at such places as shall be designated by Council.
3. THAT , this by-law shall remain in force from year to year until repealed;.
THAT, Clauses 1 & 2 of By-law 1496 are amended by this by-law and where any part r-4.
or parts of this or any other by-law are not consistent, this by-law shall be considere1
in force and effect and the intent and wording of this by-law shall supercede any other
intent or wording.
THAT, this By-law shall come into effect on the day of final passing thereof.
