A BY-LAW TO AUTHORIZE THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SA.t'IITARY SEWER AND A
WATER!v!AIN ON EDWARD STREET AND THE GRADING AND IMPROVING OF THE SAID
EDli'ARD STREET AS A LOCAL IMPROVEMENT.

WHEREAS at least two-thirds in number representing at least one half /
of the value of the lots liable to be specially assessed and others
... have petitioned the Council to construct, as a local improvement, the ·1·1 work hereinafter described, and the Clerk has certified that the

WHEREAS it is expedient to grant the prayer of the said Petition in
the manner hereinafter provided.
THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE TOliN OF AURORA BY THE VOTE OF THREE-
QUARTERS OF ALL OF THE ME!ViBERS OF THE SAID COUNCIL ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That a watermain be constructed on Edward Street from the
Southerly limit of Dunning Avenue to a point 637 feet southerly thereon ~·
and on Dunning Avenue from Edward Street south to Edward Street north, ~
including private connections as a local improvement in accordance with
the provisions of the Local Improvement Act.
2. That a sanitary sewer be constructed on Edward Street from
the. Southerly limit of Dunning'Avenue to a point 637 feet southerly \~'
thereon and on Dunning Avenue from Edward Street south to Edward Street ~
1 • north, including private connections as a local improvement in accordance
with the provisions of the Local Improvement Act.
3. That Edward Street from Dunning Avenue to the southerly limit
of the Edward Street in the Town of Aurora be graded and i•l!lproved by
the construction of a road base and surface treatment as a Local
Improvement in accordance with the provisions of the Local Improvement
Act.
4. That Canadian-British Engineering Consultants be and they
are hereby appointed the Engineers to forthwith make such plans, pro-~·.1'{'·
files, and specifications and furnish such information as may be \\
necessary for the making of a contract for the execution of the work.
5. The work shall be carried on and executed under the super-. ~
·J~) intendence and according to the directions and orders of such engineers.~
·-·· 6. The Mayor and Clerk are authorized to cause a contract for
the construction of the work to be made and entered into with some
person or persons, firm or corporation, subject to the approval of
this Council to be declared by Resolution.

The Treasurer may agree with any bank or person for temporary ~·
or money to meet the cost of the work pending the completion ~
of it.
8. The cost of the said work insofar as it relates to the
grading and improving of Edward Street shall be specially assessed upon the
lots abutting directly on the work in accordance with the provisions of
the Local Improvement Act.
9. The cost of the said work insofar as it relates to the
construction of a watermain and the sanitary sewer and connections
shall be borne in the following manner: mainly, the sum of $ 12.32
per ft. frontage shall be specially assessed upon the land abutting
directly on the work and the remainder of the cost shall be born by
the Corporation. Such remainder of cost shall not be less than the
Corporation's portion of the cost as provided by Section 23 of the
Local Improvement Act.
10. The cost of the said work shall be provided by the issue
sale of debentures of the Town of Aurora to be authorized by By-Law
By-Laws and to be payable as to the cost of grading and improving
and
or
Edward Street within a period of ten years and as to the cost of the
construction of the watermain and sewer and connections within a period
of twenty years.
