BYLAW - Levy the Taxes for the Year 1958 - 19580317 - 136358I I ~-··----~ L.j of the Corporation of the Town of Aurora BEING A BY-LA W TO LEVY THE TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1958 AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE COLLECTION THEREOF. WHEREAS the Municipal Council of the Corporation of The Town of A urora has considered the estimates the Boards and Commissions and deems it of the municipality and of ~ expedient that the sum of j, $~92,113.18 be raised for the law·ful purposes of the Corporation for the year 1958. AND WHEREAS there is required to be raise~ for special purposes the sum of $9,214.00 for the sewerage and other debentures under the /~~~ Local Improvement Act. AND WHEREASSthe toal assessable property within the . ( ' Corporation is as follows: Land$ 1,347,100.00 . Buildings $4,002,904.Q!:l Busines $707,142.00 AND WHEREAS the amount of assessment entitled to benefit from The Unconditional Grants in accordance with the provisions of pl/tf · Sections 308 and 311 of The Municipal Act is $3,787,725.00 AND WHEREAS the amount of Assessment Not Entitled to Benefit from the Unconditional Grants in accordance with the provisions of Section~ 308 and 311 of The Municipal Act is $2,269,421.00. and WHEREAS the amount of the Unconditional Grants is 112,220.00 which is the equivalent of 3.2 mills on the Assessment entitled to Benefit. THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. That there shall be levied and collected upon the rateable property of the municipality the following rates; General Taxation (including debentures) County Rates High School Public School Maintenance Separate School Total General Taxation Provincial Grant applicable to Residential\. and Agricultural property only ($12,220.ooY Genral Taxation (Residences and farms only) Public School Maintenance Separate School Levy $145,0.53.02 39,138.00 37,016.53 56,306.30 ·. 2,379.33 $279,893.18 Mill Rates 38.5 ["~ ! I L_ ... : r ~ u -2- 2~ That the said Public School rates (not including Public School debentures) shall be struck, rated, levied and collected IJV upon the land, buildings and business assessment, assessed the name of those designated in the Collectors Roll as Public School supporters~ 3. That the said Separate School rates shall be struck, rated, levied and collected upon the land, btilldings and business assess--~ ment, assessed in the name of those designated in the Collectors ~ · Roll as Separate School Supporters. 4. There .shall be struck, rated, levied and collected, a further special rate per foot frontage to raise the sum of $9,214.00 to cover the ratepayers• share of the cost of the Corporation 1 s sewerage system, such rate to be in accor.dance with the rates and against the properties decided by the Court of Revision held for such purposes and the Collector's Roll shall provide accordingly. 5. One third of the said rates shall become due and be paid on or before the 30th day of April, 1958, one third shall become due and be paid on or before the 31st day of July, 1958, and one third shall become due and be paid on or before the 31st day of October, 1958. 6. The Treasurer is hereby authorized to receive on account )*" of the said rates, payments in advance of the days fixed for the payment of any of the three instalments thereon and that there _)P{fl· shall be allowed a discount on the whole or any portion of the first instalment of taxes so paid in advance of the 30th day of Appil, 1958, one half of one percentum and that there shall by allowed a discount on the whole or any portion of the second instalment of taxes so paid in advance of the 31st day of May, 1958, one .and one half percentum; of the 30th day of June, 1958, one percentum; of the 31st day of July, 1958, one half of one percentum; and that there shall be allowed --------·-·· ------·-·· ~-~----'---'~- [1 ~--, I u c· -3- a discount· on the whole orany portion\ot the third instalment of taxes so paid in advance of the 31st. day of August, 19.58, one and one half percentum; of the 30th day of September, 19.58, one percentum; and of the 31st day of October, 19.58, one half of one percentum. 7. That there be imposed, as a penalty, a percentage ~harge of one-half of one perc en tum for non-payment of any / /J. instalment of the taxes or any portion thereof on the first .Jf~(/J day of default and on the first day of each month there- after in which default continues, but not after the 31st. ~ay of December, 19.58. 8, That the statutory penalty and interest shall be charged on all of the rates not paid on the 31st day of December, 19.58, and such penalty and interest shall be levied and collected by the Collector or Treasurer as if the same has been originally imposed and formed part of the said rate; 9· Roll to The the Clerk shall prepare and deliver the Collector on or before the3 I~ day c_· ol~ector' s 4/f . of ~-ut )PYY 19.58. lQ~ That the Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to be mailed the 109 of the Assessment Act notices provided for by Section ~ to the addresses of the residencer;/ift/t · or places of business of the persons to Whom such notices are required to be given. 11. That the Collector shall, if any instalment of taxes remains unpaid for more than fourteen days from the date provided for payment thereof, forthwith proceed to collect by distress or otherwise, under the provisions of the Statute in that eehalf, all such taxes, so in default, together with the percentage thereon imposed for a default. ·' r~.
