BYLAW - Providing for the Use of Parking Tickets - 19510813 - 110551)! ' '~v· / I ( BY-LAW' NUMBER 1/tJ,J"' OF THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA. A by-law providing for the use of parking tickets and the voluntary payments of fines etc. WHEREAS by clause (a) of paragraph 107 of section 388 of The Municipal Act, it is provided that councils of cities, towns, villages and townships may pass by-laws providing for the voluntary payment of penalties out of court for the contravention of the parking provisions of a by-law; AND ~~EREAS the Council of the Municipal Corporation of the Town of Aurora deems it expedient to provide a procedure for the voluntary payment of penalties; Now· THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:- 1. W'here a vehicle is found parked in contravention of the parking provisio~s of a by-law of the said Corporation, the police officer so finding the vehicle shall attach to the vehicle a parking Ucket in the form of a serially nUI)lbered notice stating,- (a) (b) (c) the permit number and a concise description of the vehicle; 1 that the vehicle is unlawfully parked; the date, time and place of the alleged offence; (d) that the o1mer or operator thereof may report to the office of the Municipal Clerk i'l'i thin two days, exclusive of Sundays and holidays, after the day when the ticket is attached, to make a voluntary payment of the penalty, and •, -2- (e) that in the event of failure to so report and make such payment a summons will be issued under The Summary Convictions Act. 2. The parking ticket shall be prepared in triplicate and the police officer shall attach one copy to the vehicle and deliver the other copies to the Municipal Clerk • .3. The owner or operator of the vehicle may, within two days, exclusive of Sundays and holidays, after the day when the ticket is attached to the vehicle, report to the office of the Municipal Clerk and pay to the Municipal Clerk or any person designated by him to receive such payments the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) which shall be accepted as the pe.yment of a penalty in full satis- faction in respect of the alleged offence, and a receipt therefor shall be given to the person making the payment. 4. If a voluntary paymentris not made in accordance with the procedure provided in sections 1 to .3, the procedure of The Summary Convictions Act and the penalties provided for in the by-lai-r alleged to have been contravened shall apply. 5. This by-la111' shall come into force and effect on it being approved by ·the Department of Highways for Ontario.
