BEING A BY-LAW to
appoint an Auditor for The
Corporation of the Town of
Aurora.
WHEREAS subsection 296(1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25, as
amended, (the "Act') states that a municipality shall appoint an auditor licensed under
the Public Accounting Act, 2004 who is responsible for, (a) annually auditing the
accounts and transactions of the municipality and its local boards and expressing an
opinion on the financial statements of these bodies based on the audit; and (b)
performing duties required by the municipality or local board;
AND WHEREAS subsection 296(3) of the Act states that an auditor of a municipality
shall not be appointed for a term exceeding five years;
AND WHEREAS subsection 296(4) of the Act states that the auditor of a municipality
shall not be an employee of the municipality or of a local board of the municipality;
AND WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Aurora (the "Town")
deems it necessary and expedient to appoint an auditor in accordance with subsection
296(1) of the Act;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT BDO Canada LLP be and is hereby appointed as auditor on behalf of the
Town and its local board, the Aurora Public Library Board, for a term of three (3)
years beginning on the effective date of this by-law, to audit the fiscal years of
2012, 2013 and 2014.
2. THAT By-law Number 4959-07.0 be and is hereby repealed.
3. THAT the provisions of this By-law shall be deemed to have come into full force
and effect on the 23rd day of October, 2012.
