BYLAW - To provide for presertation of public morals - 19100913 - 32310To provide for the preservation of Public Piorals in the Hunicipai ty of :aurora. Be it enacted by the Tiunieipal Corporation of the Town of i�urora Ist. That it shall not be lawful for any person or persons to give or sell intoxicating Liquor to any child, apprintiee or servant without the consent of a parent, master or legal protestor. 2nd. That it saall not be lawful to post up any indecent placards, writing or pictures, to write indecent words or make indecent pictures or drawings on *malls fences or other public places. 3rd. That it shall not be lawful for any person to be guilty of profa swearing, utter any profane oath, obscene, blaspheme or insulting tLangua.ge or to commit any other immorality or indecency in any of the streets highway or any other public place. 4th That it shall not be lawful for any person to be guilty of indeceit public exposure of the person or to be drunk or guilty of any disorder y ly conduct in any street highway or public place or at any public meeting held for a lawful purpose. dVh. That it shall net be lawful for any person to keep a disorderly house or a house of ill.,fame. 6ith. That it shall not be lawful for any person to keep a gambling house or allow gambling on his or her premises. It shall be lawful for the Chief of iolice or%othcr officer specially detailed for that purpose to enter any house, shop or premises where gambling is thought to be carried on and seize a.n# destroy any device for gambling found therein. th. That it shall not be lawful to speed or race horses on any public street or highway in toe town of hurora. Ith. That no person shall expose his or her person by bathing or washing near any high -,ray or other public �claee bet -,peen the hours of seven o'clock in the morning and eight o clock in the evening. 4 E f lAi B Y- 1 A W Ao 3 2 3 Continued. th. That it shall not be lawful for any person to beg or perform any act of vagrancy, drunkeness or disorderly conduct in any street highway or public place ind any person so found shall be restrained and punished as provided in this By -Law;- provided always that the Chief Constable may release any one charged with being drunk but not disorderly without bringing such person before a Justice of the Peace. /Oth. That at shall not be lawful to exhibit, produce or give any immoral or indecent play, sketch, moving pictures or performance in any theatre, hall or other place of amusement or entertainmentlany y infraction of this bylaw shall be punishable as provided by statt /Ith. It shall not be lawful to hold any sparring exhibitions or in any theatre, hall or other boxing matches or exhibit moving pictures of the sane without first place of amusement obtaining the consent of the Chief of Police or Chief Constable. I(,th. That all informatoion under this bylaw shall be laid within one month from the commission of the offence. Iith. Any person found guilty of a violation of any of the peovision !V CA) of this by-law shall, upon conviction before the Magvrkny,,,Justice of the Peace havi49 jursdiction in this Dlunicipality be liable to a V fine of not less than one dollar or more than fifty dollars exclusive _costs to be collected by distress and sale of the goods and chattles of the offender if the fine and costs are not paid forthwith, and in case no goods or ehabtles are found belonging to such offender it shall be lawful for the Eayor or any such Justice of the Peace to com mit the offender to the common jail of the County for any period, in case of a house of ill fame not exceeding sixty days, and in all other cases not more than twenty one days with or without hard labor, unless in any of the said cases the fine inflicted and costs (if any), including the cost of the distress and of the commital and conveyance to the jail are sooner paid.
