Mayor Jones outlined the procedures that would be followed in the conduct of the
public meeting. The Deputy Town Clerk confirmed that appropriate notice had
been given and that signs had been posted on the subject properties in
accordance with the relevant provisions of the Planning Act.
Sue Seibert, the Director of Planning provided an overview of all three applications
due to their similar location. Ms. Seibert outlined the background of that area as
it is within the OPA 30 area, which was adopted by Council on March 7, 2000
and on August 11, 2000, OPA 30 was approved in part with modifications by the
Council of the Region of York. The lands form part of the Bayview Northeast 2B
Secondary Plan. On February 9, 2001 the OMB narrowed the extent of the
current OPA 30 appeal to the lands adjacent to the “Provincially Significant East
Aurora Wetland Complex”, resulting in the subject lands of these applications no
longer being within the appeal area.
