MINUTES - Special Council - 19981005 TOWN OF AURORA SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING NO. 34-98 Holland Room Aurora Town Hall Monday, October 5, 1998 6:32 p.m. ATTENDANCE COUNCIL MEMBERS Mayor Jones in the Chair; Councillors Griffith, Hartwell, Healy, Hinder, Hogg (6:36 p.m.), Morris, and West. STAFF MEMBERS Director of Corporate Services/Acting Chief Administrative Officer, and Treasurer. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST There were no declarations of interest under the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act. APPROVAL OF AGENDA #632. Moved by Councillor Griffith Seconded by Councillor West THAT the content of the Agenda be approved as outlined herein. CARRIED STAFF REPORTS TR98-022-230 - Region of York Property Tax Mitigation Strategy The Treasurer reviewed for Council the Report considered by the Regional Administration and Finance Committee. The implications to the Town if the Tax Mitigation Strategy is approved at the Regional level were outlined. #633. Moved by Councillor Griffith Seconded by Councillor Hartwell THAT Council endorse the recommendations of the Region of York report regarding 1998 Property Tax Mitigation Strategy; and THAT Council approve the Mill Rate Stabilization Reserve as the funding source for the Town of Aurora’s share of the rebate to the Commercial and Industrial classes. Moved by Councillor Healy Seconded by Councillor Hartwell THAT the proportion of the residential and industrial/commercial contributions to the Mill Rate Stabilization Reserve be identified and tracked in the 1999 Budget; and THAT the funding for this portion of the proposed rebate be allocated from the industrial/commercial component of the Fund. DEFEATED The main motion was CARRIED #635.
