BYLAW - Annual Remuneration to Mayor~Council Members REPEALED BY 5564~13 - 20110426 - 5331~11THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA By-law Number 5331-11 BEING A BY-LAW to provide for the annual remuneration to be paid to the Mayor and Members of Council. WHEREAS subsection 283(1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c.25, as amended authorizes the council of a local municipality to pass a bylaw providing for the remuneration of members of council; AND WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Aurora (the "Town") believes it expedient and transparent to replace By-law Number 4859-061, as amended, with a new By-law regarding the remuneration and benefits granted to Council members; AND WHEREAS By-law Number 4859-061, as amended, provides for an annual general wage increase to members of Council as are granted to full-time non -union salaried staff, and such indexing clauses expired with the last term of Council; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Town believes it appropriate to provide for annual general wage increases for members of Council as are granted to full-time non -union salaried staff for this and all future terms of Council; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. THAT the remuneration paid shall be established as follows: MAYOR COUNCILLOR December 1, 2010 $54,383 $26,050 2. ' THAT the remuneration paid to the Mayor and Councillors shall be automatically adjusted from time to time to reflect the same economic percentage salary adjustments that are granted to the full-time non -union salaried staff group. 3. THAT the Mayor shall be provided with additional remuneration in the form of a vehicle/travel allowance of $7,761 per year for the use of his/her personal vehicle while travelling on Town business. 4. THAT Councillors shall be provided with additional remuneration in the form of a vehicle/travel allowance of $1,625 per year for the use of their own personal vehicle while travelling on Town business. 5. THAT the vehicle/travel allowances herein provided shall be further adjusted annually, effective December 1, 2011, using the published 12 month Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate, and as computed by the Town's Treasurer. 6. THAT the Mayor shall be provided with a benefit plan including medical, dental, and life insurance coverage, and shall be permitted to participate in the OMERS pension plan, all of which shall be on the same terms and conditions as provided for full-time non -union salaried staff. By-law 5331-11 Page 2 of 2 7. THAT Councillors shall be offered on an optional basis at the Councillor's expense, a benefit plan including medical, dental and life insurance. 8. THAT discretionary constituency, conference and training expenditure budgets, policies and processes for members of Council be established as operational items for annual review. 9. THAT By-law Numbers 4859-061 and 4926-071 be and are hereby repealed. 10. THAT this By-law shall come into full force and effect upon final passage hereof, with the economic percentage salary adjustment provided for in section 2 of this By-law being retroactive to April 1, 2011.
