MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL BELD IN THE COUNCIL

PRESENT WERE: Mayor E. Buck, Councillors Davis, Miller, Roth,
Simmons, Stewart, Timpson and Williamson
Williamson: mwHEREAS the Council of the Town of Aurora has
Simmons: authorized J. D. Reid Consulting Engineer to
prepare all necessary plans for the underground
servicing of Wellington Street;
AND WHEREAS, this project is required for the fUture
health, safety and planned growth and financial
stability of the Community as a whole;
AND WHEREAS the Region of York issued a formal tender
call for the project 75-8, Wellington Street West,
reconstruction, closing July 29th. 1975;
AND WHEREAS the Region of York has approved of the
project, and the allocation of funds, and the award
of tender, subject to the Town of Aurora share of
cost for services not required for the road
reconstruction, namely oversizing of storm sewers,
sanitar,y sewers, new watermains, sidewalks and
underground utilities;
AND WHEREAS the Town of Aurora is on record, as
requiring these requested services and is agreeable
to paying for it's estimated share of the cost of
same;
NOW THEREFORE TEE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
AURORA ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Town of Aurora does hereby confirm and agree
to pay the Corporation of the Town of Aurora
share of the Wellington St. West Reconstruction
Contract in the estimated amount of $ 183,618.73
as has been determined by the lowest tender and
as apportioned by the Region of York.
2. That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized and
instructed to sign all necessary documents in
accordance with this resolution of authority,
and the Seal of the Corporation be attached
hereto."

~Resolved that the motion be amended immediately
after the words "Region of York" in paragraph 1
of the inacting part of the resolution, the words
be added; " provided that the repaved surface be
not more than 3 lanes in width, to wit: two or three
lanes, except at the Yonge and Wellington Streets
intersection, and the necessary approaches and such
design alteration be brought under full public
scrutiny before a final alternative is chosen."

"Resolved that the Clerk communicate with the Region
of York, the vote result and the dilema, and that
the Region be advised that the Councillors who
did not vote in favour of the Assumption of costs
were not failing to realize the Aurora Financial
responsibility but were not in favour of the
present contract design."

Councillor Simmons, that should water restrictions be required
the Clerk Administrator be authorized to impose same and have
restrictions announced by public address system.
