C.ABRIED REPORTS OF COMMITTEES Committee of Adjustment Report # 84 In respect of application (Form 1, Application for Consent, Submission No. B7/73) by Mr. & Mrs. H. Lewis, 113 Metcalfe Street, Aurora, Ontario, for Consent to a Conveyance re: part lots 20 -21 22, Plan # 68, Town of Aurora, as described in the subject application, the Committee of Adjustment, Town of Aurora, has this day issued the following Decision. DECISION: "THAT tentative approval is granted to this application and the Committee of Adjustment, Town of Aurora, is prepared to issue a final order consenting to the conveyance as set out in the application, upon compliance with CONDITIONS OF C<DNSENT as follows." CONDITIONS OF CONSENT: (1) THAT all deeds, when prepared, be submitted to the Secretary- Treasurer Committee of Adjustment, Town of Aurora for endorsement. ---------------~~·-"-'"'··--·---··-----·-·--·· •-"-' ~~--"""'=·=-"'"-""""""'·"""-""'·<'>'''''"''''"''''''"~'"'''"'""""=•=•>-~~~--·--· -·----~-~~------~~-~-"·------ SPECIAL MEETING - 9 - OCTOBER 29th. 1973 REPORTS OF C01'1MITTEE'S CONT'D (2) THAT a survey certified by an Ontario Land Surveyor be provided to the Committee. REASONS FOR THE DECISION: ( 1) (2) (3) (4) (5) There were no objections either written or verbal to the granting of the consent. The Municipality of the Town of Aurora Council had reconsidered its earlier position and removed its objections to the granting of the mverance. There has been some indication from the Municipality that the potential of the area for Industrial growth does not appear too promising, (and, in fact, there has been no significant change in this direction for the past ten years) and the Municipality is giving serious consideration to changing the existing.Industrial zoning back to its previous, and its really existing!'-use. Under the present zoning regulations, while the by-law is obscure, there may be variance with re13pect to parking requirements, but the Committee has investigated this matter and has determined that the present usage is satisfied by three parking spaces whereas there is actually room for five parking spaces off the street without blocking existing exits. The Committee gave consideration to the fact that the portion of the property to be severed has been assessed as Industrial property and it is felt that the permission of the severance is actually a step in the direction of conforming to the intent of Town of Aurora By-law 1863. Timpson: "Resolved that we receive and accept the report." Davis: CARRIED Committee of Adjustment Report # 86 Davis: Timpson: "Resolved that this report be tabled to the next Council meeting for further information." '1973 REPORTS OF COl"'MITTEES CONT' D A meeting of the Public Safety Committee was held on Thursday, October 4th. '1973 at 7:30 P.M. Present were: C?uncill?r Stewart, Chairman, Councillor G. Timpson, Vlc~ Chalrman, Staff Inspector Harkness, York Regional Pollee Force, Mr. D. Thompson and Mr. C. Milne, representatives of the Concerned Citizens Regency Acres, Mr. D. Lougheed and Mr. L. Smith, Aurora Safety Council. 1. Speed Limits (a) The Committee discussed the recent accidents on Murray Drive and heard suggestions from D. Thompson that the Town go ahead with the proposed 25 miles per hour limit and the painting of yellow lines on major Subdivision streets. Inspector Harkness informed the Committee that speed was not a f,actor in either accident and did forsee some enforcement problems in a complete 25 mile per hour zone. (b) After discussion the Committee would recommend that Murray Drive, Richardson Drive and Aurora Heights Drive only be designated a 25 mile per hour zone on a trial basis. (c) And that a yellow line be marked in the centre of these streets. 2. Bicycle Licencing The question of licencing bicycles was discussed and it was agreed that this method of control on bicycles would be most impracticable. Inspector Harkness stated that the York Regional Police Safety Secion had been increased and would be able to give a much better service, i.e. more time and personnel to visit schools etc. The Committee recommends that the Town proclaim a "Bicycle Safety Week" and purchase red reflector tape which would be issued to the Police and Service Clubs etc. who would be willing to co-operate and assist. 3. York Regional Engineering Report re Gateway Heights Ratepayers Association, reguest for Various Traffic Controls. The Committee studied this report and concurs with the Region.
