C. Bailey, 33 Victoria Street, Aurora, Ontario, on behalf of his client Trustees of Aurora United Church, 58 Yonge Street South, Aurora, Ontario, for Consent to Severance re part of Lot 11, Plan 9, Town of Aurora, as fully described in subject application, the Committee of Adjustment, Town of Aurora, has this day issued the £allowing decision. DECISION: "THAT tentative approval is granted to this application and the Committee of Adjustment, Town of Aurora, is prepared to issue a final order consenting to the severance as set in the application upon compliance with Condition of Consent as follows." CONDITION OF CONSENT: (1) There were no objections either written or vergal to the granting of the consent. (2) The Committee recognized that the application was really no more than a reversal in entirety of a property acquisition made by the United Church of Aurora in 1961 and no new parcel or, in fact, any real change in property boundaries, use, etc., is involved. Henderson: Trent: "Resolved that this Council concurr with the decision of the Committee of Adjustment." CARRIED Councillor Henderson in the Chair Transpprtation Committee Report No. 96 Mayor Illingworth presented a report of the Transportation Committee in which the Committee respectfully submitted the following: A meeting of the Transportation Committee was held at 8:00 P.M. 19th of August, 1971 with Mayor Illingworth and Councillor Trent present. Mr. M.J. MacMaster and Mr. B.B. Khojajian represented the D.T.C. Transit Planning Office. The meeting was arranged to discuss the feasibility of carrying out a Transit Utili~ation Study for the Town of Aurora. A Transit Utilization Study is normally carried out in a municipality, for either a public or priv~te bus service, to determine ways and means to improve the service and consider such items as routing, scheduling and fare structure. Based on available information regabding the operation of the Aurora Bus Line, it was the opipion of the representative of the Transit Planning Office that a Utilizabion study was not warranted at this time, as it appeared that the routing and the scheduling of the local bus line met a high stantard for a municipality. ' SPECIAL MEETING .,-11-AUGUST 30th, 1971 Reports of Committees Cont'd Transportation Committee Report No, 96 Cont'd The dial-a-bus service in the Bay Ridge ~ea is still under study, At the present time, the buses are carrying in excess of 500 passengers a day, but the service has not yet proved economically satisfactory, As the passenger potential in this area is considered to be much lower, it is not anticipated that a feeder serfice of any type will be provided in the forseeable future. It has been found by experience that the best ~ype of feeder service can be performed by a local operator, who is able to integrate his scheduling with that of the Go Transit carrier, Agreements have been made in some municipalitites for this type of feeder service, Sample copies of agreements will~ forwarded for further consideration, If an ag~eement is signed, subsidies of up to 50'~ are aV$ilable from the Department to a municipality to assist in making up any operating deficit. In general discussion regarding the operation of the Go Transit system as it pertains to Aurora, it was felt that there was a definite need for a central bus depot with a parking lot to provide accomodation for residents who live outside the core area, or beyond normal walking distance from the Yonge St, corridor, This type of depot would be similar to those provided in Newmarket and Richmond Hill. Recommendation It is recommended that the Clerk Administrator write to the Transit Planning Office requesting a study to determine the feasibility of providing a central bus depotmd parking lot in the Town of Aurora, Illingworth: Trent: "Resolved that the Transportation Committee Report #96 re: Meeting with D.T.C.
