THAT the content of the Agenda be approved as outlined herein with the
addition of a resolution respecting an In Camera Meeting with regard to a
legal matter to the New Business section of the Agenda.

PRESENTATIONS
Mr. Jack DeGraaf. The Royal Canadian Legion re: Presentation
to the 1 997 Smoke Alarm Campaign
Mr. Jack DeGraaf provided a brief history of the various fundraising events sponsored by
the Legion in Aurora to help raise funds in the community. He indicated that the Town
of Aurora is the best Town in Canada to live in and that he is very proud of Aurora. He
noted that the Legion had previously supported this worthwhile endeavour. Mr. Jack
DeGraaf and Mr. Ken White on behalf of the members of the Royal Canadian Legion
presented Mayor Jones with a contribution of $1,750 towards the 1997 Smoke Alarm
Campaign.
Mayor Jones, on behalf of Council expressed the Town's appreciation to the Legion for
their generous contribution made to the campaign.

Communications Agreement with the Town of Newmarket, at a cost of
$1.35 per capita for the calendar year 1997.

Aurora Grove Subdivision. 83-97 Primeau Drive. Block 44,

THAT Council approve the request for exemption from Part Lot Control made
by Grindelwald Developments Limited to divide Block 44, Registered Plan
65M-3013 into separate lots; and
THAT Bill Number 3812-97.D be given first, second and third reading; and
that the Clerk be authorized to table a Bill to repeal Bill Number 3812-97 .D
upon the completion of the transfer of the subject lots as requested by
Grindelwald Developments Limited.

York Regional Police re: Deferral of the Radar Pay Duty
Pilot Project until Further Study
#233. Moved by Councillor Healy Seconded by Councillor Morris
WHEREAS the most frequent residential enquiries received relate to safety
issues regarding speed of traffic on residential streets in the Town of Aurora;
AND WHEREAS the York Regional Police Department may never have
enough Officers to provide adequate enforcement of speeding on residential
streets;
AND WHEREAS Chief Cousineau had supported the initiation of this program
on a trial basis;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Aurora hereby
formally expresses its desire to enter into an Agreement with the York
Region Police Department to implement a pilot project which would provide
pay duty Police Officers to monitor speed on residential streets in the Town
of Aurora.

THAT Council approve the reduction of the Town of Aurora water rates by
. 7 cents from 55.0 cents to 54.3 cents per cubic metre to reflect the
reduction in the Region of York's wholesale water rate; and
That Staff be directed to bring forward a Bill to adopt the revised water rate
effective March 27, 1997.

Finance Committee regarding the financial implications of putting the waste

(with a flashing light) in the east side boulevard of Murray Drive between
Trillium Drive and the existing similar sign on this side of the street;
THAT the Director of Public Works investigate the potential for installing
reflectorized "cats' eyes" in the pavement on Murray Drive between Trillium
Drive and Pinehurst Court to better define the driving lanes; and
THAT no further action be taken with respect to Bill 3787-97 .T (regarding
amendment to the "no parking" By-law on Murray Drive) which received two
readings at the Council Meeting of January 15, 1997.
