DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST Councillor Healy declared an interest in the Correspondence from the Village of Blyth re: Education Taxes by virtue of his employment with the York Region Board of Education and did not take part in or vote on any questions in this regard or attempt in any way to influence the voting on such questions. APPROVAL OF AGENDA #225. Moved by Councillor Wallace .Seconded by Councillor Morris THAT the content of the Agenda be approved as outlined herein, with the addition of a Memorandum from Councillor Griffith re: Modifications to Town Logo for consideration with the Business Development Committee Report, a Memorandum from Councillor Wallace re: 200 Years Yonge Celebration to the New Business section of the Agenda and a Memorandum from. Director of Planning re: By-law 3679-96.D, Macont Developments Inc. for c.onsideration in connection with first and second reading of the proposed by-law. CARRIED DELEGATIONS Councillor Burton. Town of Newmarket re: Participation in the Persechini Easter Seal Run/Walkathon Councillor Burton advised Council that the persechini Easter Seal event has raised 1 .3 million dollars for disabled children in York Region during its nineteen-year history. The funds are used to provide such services as nursing, transportation and equipment to the children. In this, the 20th anniversary, Newmarket is challenging each of the other York Region municipalities to enter a team. The winning municipality will have its flag flown for one week at the Civic Halls of each of the other municipalities. Requested the Director of Planning to provide an update respecting the Canadian Tire application. Noted that the speaker series in connection with the 200 Years Yonge celebration commences on Tuesday, April 30, ·1996, at 7:30p.m. at the Aurora Library. The first speaker will be Mike Filey, a noted historian, speaking in relation to the history of Yonge Street. Memorandum from Council.lor Wallace re: 200 Years Yonge Celebration. Street Sale #250. Moved by Councillor Wallace Seconded by Councillor Ochalski THAT Council. endorse the street sale to be held on June 2, 1996 in connection with the 200 Years Yonge celebration. CARRIED Aurora Optimist Club Darice Mayor Jones noted that the Optimists will be holding a dance on May 4, 1996 at the Aurora Community Centre. Proceeds from the dance wil.l be used for computer purchases for the Lester B. Pearson Public school. Macont Developments and Tree Concerns Councillor Healy noted that the proposed development will result in certain mature maple trees being cut down. He requested staff, prior to third reading consideration of the Bill, to discuss with the applicant the possibilityof having the applicant provide funding, so that the Town could plant replacement trees of an appropriate species at a suitable location in the Town.
