MINUTES - Council - 19960306TOWN OF AURORA COUNCIL MEETING NO. 07-96 Council Chambers AuroraTown Hall Wednesday, March 6, 1996 8:00p.m. MINUTES ATTENDANCE COUNCIL MEMBERS Mayor Jones in the Chair; Councillors Griffith, Healy, McKenzie, Sorley, Wallace and Weller. Councillor Ochalski was absent due to illness. Councillor Morris was absent on vacation. STAFF MEMBERS Chief Administrative Officer, Municipal Clerk, Deputy Clerk/Solicitor, Director of Planning, Director of Building Administration, Director of Leisure Services, Director of Public Works, Fire Chief and Treasurer. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST Councillor Sorley declared an interest in aspects of Report No. PL96-021-057 relating to . applications D 11-02-96 and D 11-04-96 by virtue of a solicitor-client relationship and did not take part in or vote on any questions in this regard or attempt in any way to influence the voting on such questions. Mayor Jones declared an interest in aspects of Report No. PL96-024-059 relating to the development application of Timberlane Tennis and Country Club by virtue of his membership in that organization and did not take part in or vote on any questions in this regard or attempt in any Way to influence the voting on such questions. Aurora Montessori School re: Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment. Aurora Montessori School. 669 Wellington Street East Page 2 Ms Susan Mueller noted that the school has been in the location for the past seven years. During that time it has enacted two Temporary Use By-laws and paid the fees. The school had hoped to relocate to its Industrial Parkway site; however, the pace of residential growth has not made such a move feasible. Therefore, in connection with their application for a third Temporary Use By-law, she requested Council to consider waiving the application fees. · #142. Moved by Councillor Healy Seconded by Councillor Griffith THAT the revised Administration Procedure No. 20 -Benefits and Special Leave appended to this Report be adopted effective April 1, 1996; and THAT staff be authorized to work with Buffet Taylor and Associates Ltd., the Town's Benefit Plan Administrator, to implement the changes to the employment benefits provided to non-union full time staff contemplated within this Report. NEW BUSINESS Aim for Change re: Request Permission for International Women's Day March #159. Moved by Councillor Griffith Seconded by Councillor McKenzie THAT Council approve the request for a march on the sidewalk in the Town of Aurora on March 23, 1996 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and THAT notice in this regard be providedby Staff to the appropriate persons. CARRIED Response to GT A Panel Mayor Jones advised that he will be presenting Aurora's response to the GTA Commission and a response on behalf of the York Region Mayors on March 11, 1996 at the Richmond Hill Civic Hall commencing at 6:45 p.m. IN CAMERA Labour Relations Matters #160.
