Moved by Councillor Weller Seconded by Councillor McKenzie THAT, Council accept the appended recommendation of Marshall Macklin Monaghan to award a contract to the firm PCL Design Contractors Inc. for the construction of the addition and renovations to the Aurora Community Centre in accordance with their revised proposal at the total cost of 4.95 Million, exclusive of G.S.T., contingency and engineering; and THAT, subject to the provision of the bonding documentation and insurance indemnity, the Mayor and Municipal Clerk be authorized to execute the documents necessary to give effect to the foregoing. CARRIED PER95-003-139-Ratification of 1995 Collective Agreement with Aurora Professional Firefighters Association lAPEEAl #233. Moved by Councillor Ochalski Seconded by Councillor Sor/ey THAT the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute the attached Collective Agreement between the Corporation of the Town of Aurora and the Aurora Professional Firefighters Association, Local 2870 of the International Association of Firefighters, representing terms of employment for Eire Bargaining Unit employees for the period January 1, 1 995 to December 31, 1 995. Moved by Councillor Healy Seconded by Councillor Weller THAT Council approve a request from Paradise Homes Inc. for pre- servicing the lands in the Paradise Homes (Schmidt) subdivision (19T-94019) subject to the following conditions: (a) Review and approval by the Director of Public Works of the cost estimate for the internal servicing works; (b) Review and approval by the Director of Public Works of the detailed engineering plans for the construction of the internal services; (c) Issuance of the necessary Certificates of Approval from the Ministry of Environment for all the underground services; (d) Receipt of proof of insurance in an amount satisfactory to the Town; (e) Receipt of engineering fees and securities in accordance with standard procedures for subdivision developments in the amounts specified; (f) Finalization of satisfactory arrangements for the relocation of the existing temporary hydro service to the Town Hall which are currently located on the subject lands; and (g) Execution of a Preservicing Agreement which is satisfactory to the Town. CARRIED Councillor Sorley, having previously disclosed an interest in this Report, did not take part in the vote called for in this regard. Moved by Councillor Sorley Seconded by Councillor Wallace THAT the 1995\1996 Insurance Program be renewed with Sparks and Gilbert Insurance Brokers Inc., Aurora (Frank Cowan Company Limited) at an estimated annual cost of $171 ,000.00; and THAT the self-insured deductibles for the Municipal Liability, Errors and Omissions and Automobile Fleet policies be increased to $2500.00. Requested the Director of Public Works to investigate whether work is being carried on in the southbound lane of Yonge Street during the morning rush hour. Enquired whether the sign newly posted on Community Centre Lane was correctly spelled. Enquired as to the timing and progress on the Magna project. Requested the Director of Public Works to determine why certain water fountains in parkettes at the north end of Town are not functional. Requested the Director of Public Works to respond with respect to the costs of installing safety lighting on the Town walkway from Windham Trail through to Wellington Street West.
